My Mama Does My Hair was created to celebrate black women and black hair. It also tells a story of my mom and I's relationship. Growing up my mom always has done my hair. From school pictures, to proms, to graduations, to maybe even wedding day. There begins the cycle of black women and hair. My mom does my hair, her mom did her here, and her mom's mom did her hair...and so on.
I was also introduced to the hair salon dynamic when I was very young; mature gossip, relationship drama, and juicy rumors. This experience made me stronger and more confident in large groups of women.
